“Miss, he stole my ketchup“. Does it sound like children in a class room?, Well what about the latest argument I read in PR Daily. All because someone at someone at Heinz hired Bernardo as its new CEO who was the former head of Burger King. Burger King, being a rival to McDonalds. Tit for Tat?
The issue is simple, Heinz Tomato Ketchup is a great product, and one of the best if not the best in the world. Yes McDonalds have some great products and I have little fault in having a McChicken Sandwich now and again, but I advocate Consumer Choice, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do. However as a one crying child can spoil a party, this appears from what I see to be a similar tale. I could be wrong, but many sites including the BBC suggest the same.
My local McDonalds is in Peckham, I’m going to bring my own bottle of Heinz Tomato ketchup, and take a ‘selfie‘ (picture of myself with a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup) for Twitter, will you follow me? @jamesmcintosh
In a statement McDonalds said
“We value the relationship we’ve maintained with Heinz for more than 40 years. As a result of recent management changes at Heinz, we have decided to transition our business to other suppliers over time. We have spoken to Heinz and plan to work together to ensure a smooth and orderly transition of the McDonald’s restaurant business, and are confident that there will be no impact to our business, our customers and our great tasting food at McDonald’s. “
My opinion as a world award winning cookbook author, the food at McDonalds tastes good with Heinz.
The press office at McDondals did give me a little hope, saying the global transition away from Heinz will be done in different stages, and it won’t affect the UK till 2015. There you have it folks, equal rights in Marriage in the UK in 2015, but if your going to have a gay day in McDonalds, bring your own sauce. You can love your man in McDonalds but not your Heinz.
Ronald and co, I’m not loving it. #ketchupgate
