Happy Birthday Julia Child
It’s not everyone that Google displays a picture about on their home page!
“It’s fun to get together and have something good to eat at least once a day. That’s what human life is all about… Enjoying things.” Julia Child.
Julia and I have had a journey. Julia, an American lady was the first person to bring European cookery to the USA. Having trained at the world famous Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, Julia was famous for her clumsy cooking, food falling on the floor and her “Bon appetite” in loud shrill.
Julia was again brought to world attention when a lady I met in Paris at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards (that my brother had a crush on and met, may I add!) Julie Powell brought out a book and movie called “Julie and Julia”. Julie cooked her way through Julia Childs book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” where she cooked 524 recipes in 365 days in 1 tiny apartment in NYC.
It’s people like Julia Child that I consider the bastions of the cooking world. The ones that paved the way for my world travels in food. I’m working on a project for the USA at the moment, Julia, you have been my inspiration. Thank you.
On 13th August 2012, Julia would have been 100.
I found a video on line today, a song by Julia.
