Pink Salads raise money for breast cancer charities

Lasting Leaf Salads have pledged to raise GBP 10,000 for breast cancer charities from the sales of two of their most popular salad combinations, as part of this year’s Tickled Pink Campaign.  Special pink salad bags have been created for breast cancer awareness month – Baby Pink Sweet & Crunchy(iceberg, romaine, cabbage and carrot) and Fuchsia Pink Crispy Crunchy(iceberg, frisée and radicchio).

Lasting Leaf salads are made by British family-owned company Natures Way Foods, using a variety of home-grown leaves to ensure they reach your table in peak condition.  The salads stay fresh for longer as the leaves have been carefully blanched in warm and cold water to give them two day’s extra fridge life – once the bag has been opened.  Look out for the two Tickled Pink salad bags in ASDA supermarkets nationwide.

Now in its 16th year, the ASDA Tickled Pink Campaign helps raise thousands of pounds for two leading charities – Breast Cancer Campaign (which funds innovative, world class research into fighting the disease) and Breast Cancer Care (which provides expert information and professional support for people with breast cancer and their families).

Research shows that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and eating a healthy diet is one of the best ways to help reduce the risk of developing a variety of diseases including breast cancer.  In fact, according to breast cancer charities, people who lead a healthy lifestyle by keeping active, cutting down on alcohol and maintaining a healthy body weight are less likely to develop breast cancer.
